Wrist pain and hand pain we see

Wrist sprain

A wrist sprain happens when ligaments stretch or tear, often after a fall onto the hand. Swelling and pain with movement follow.

Broken wrist and wrist fracture recovery

After a cast or splint comes out, the joint is stiff and the muscles are weak. Wrist fracture recovery focuses on range of motion, swelling and grip.

De Quervain's tenosynovitis

Pain on the thumb side of the wrist, worse with lifting a baby, pinching or turning the wrist. It is an irritated tendon sheath.

Trigger finger

A finger catches or locks as you bend it, often with a tender bump in the palm. A thickened tendon sheath is the cause.

Thumb pain and thumb arthritis

Thumb arthritis at the base of the thumb makes opening jars, turning keys and pinching hurt. Hand therapy cannot reverse the wear, but joint protection, strengthening and a supportive splint may reduce pain. Arthritis in other joints is covered on arthritis and joint pain.

What hand therapy involves

You do not need a special title to get careful hand rehab. You need a plan that suits your hand.

Splints and braces

Supportive and custom-fit splints and braces protect an injured hand while it heals. Ask us what we can fit.

Motion, grip and strength

Range of motion exercises first, then grip and hand strengthening as pain settles.

Swelling and scars

Swelling (edema) management and scar management help after injury or surgery. See post-surgical rehab.

Hands-on care

Manual therapy and IASTM can help stiff, tight tissue.

Numbness or tingling in your fingers?

Numb fingers are usually a nerve problem, not a joint problem.
