Work Injuries & Workers' Comp

A work injury is an injury that happens on the job: back strains from lifting, repetitive strain, and slips and falls. Physical therapy treats the injury and then builds you back up for your job through work conditioning. Getting started with workers' comp physical therapy

Workers comp physical therapy, also called workers compensation PT, has a few extra steps. Here is what we know to bring.

  1. Report it

Tell your employer about the injury, then see the doctor your claim sends you to.

  2. Gather the details

Bring your claim number and your case manager's contact information, as well as your payment information.

  3. Call us

We will tell you how your claim would work here before your first visit. Call before you come. We follow your doctor's orders and communicate with your case manager and employer.

  4. Evaluation and plan

We learn what your job demands and set goals for pain, motion and strength.

Return to work, light duty and work conditioning

Many people finish treatment but cannot go back to work because they are out of shape.

Work conditioning

Programs that mimic your job's demands. They help you recover strength, improve endurance, increase flexibility and mobility, and improve cardiorespiratory fitness. Work conditioning is personalized, full-body and intensive.

Return to work and light duty

We help plan a return, including light duty, with your doctor and employer.

Work hardening and FCE

Work hardening is a more intense version of conditioning, and a functional capacity evaluation (FCE) measures what you can do on the job. Call and ask whether we offer either.

Ergonomics and preventing re-injury

Fixing the cause keeps the injury from coming back.

  • Job-specific task training and lifting and body-mechanics coaching
  • Workstation setup, an ergonomic assessment on request, and breaks
  • Hands-on manual therapy and a home exercise program
  • Interventions that decrease the odds of re-injury when you return to work
